Polio Vaccination for International Travellers between India and Polio infected countries

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has put in place, the requirement of a dose of oral polio vaccine (OPV) for travellers arriving in India from endemic countries or listed as countries with poliovirus circulation as well as going to countries which are endemic for poliovirus infection or listed as countries with poliovirus circulation.


As per WHO, the latest Poliovirus infected countries are:a) Polio endemic countries: Afghanistan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia,Syria.b) Countries with poliovirus circulation: Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar, Congo, DR Congo.These mandatory requirements will be effective for travel from 1st May 2024. OPV vaccination certificate will be issued after this additional dose which shall remain valid for a period of one year.

Agra gets New White Marvel  

A newly completed white marble structure that took over a century to build is now open for visitors. Many of the visitors are drawing a competition between the iconic Taj Mahal and this mausoleum that is earning serious attention from the visiting tourists. India ranks highest in South Asia

The latest annual report of World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024 reveals that India is ranked 39th, the highest in South Asia and among other lower-middle-income economies. India's new ranking is a notable improvement from its 54th position in the 2021 index. Rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, increased investments in tourism infrastructure and sustained efforts to enhance travel and tourism safety are the major reasons of development in ranking. 




The Grand Ratha Yatra 2024: Puri, Odisha

One of the largest and most celebrated festivals of India - the Ratha Yatra will be celebrated this year on 7th of July with full enthusiasm and energy. Millions of people including thousands of foreign tourists and devotees will be there at the venue of Puri Jagannath Temple to catch a glimpse of the Holy Idol. The idol of Lord Jagannath along with Lord Balavadra and Goddess Subhadra will be carried on Chariots pulled by thousands of devotees to the Gundichi Devi Temple in Mathura.

 

On the day of Yatra, millions of people will gather around chanting and dancing while the King of Puri, a royal descendent will sweep the roads with a golden broom and make way for the Chariots.  Lord Jagannath’s chariot is the biggest of the three having 16 massive wheels and a height of 44 feet. While Lord Balabhadra’s chariot has 14 wheels and a height of 43 feet followed by Goddess Subhadra’s chariot having 12 wheels and a height of 42 feet
